FELLOW EXCELLENCE AWARD

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL GASTROENTEROLOGY (NCSCG)
FELLOW AWARD 2025

 

OVERVIEW:

The NCSCG is comprised of gastroenterologists and hepatologists from various practice settings throughout Northern California dedicated to the pursuit of clinical excellence through professional growth, service, and educational programs. The purpose of this award is to provide career support and recognition of exceptional gastroenterology fellow trainees that embody the pillars of NCSCG: professionalism, leadership, collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and scholarly educational/research activities.

Applicant:

  • A current fellow (ACGME or non-ACGME) in a Northern California gastroenterology fellowship program along with advanced fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease, advanced endoscopy, and advanced/transplant hepatology

  • An involved fellow member of NCSCG either through the Education and Trainee Committee and/or regularly attendance of the Educational/Webinar Series

  • Have a mentor who is active in gastroenterology and/or hepatology and who is a NCSCG member in good standing

Mentor

  • Each mentor may nominate/support up to one fellow applicant per year at the single fellowship program/institution 

  • Past NCSCG Fellow Award recipients are not eligible. Candidates that have previously applied and were not selected are strongly encouraged to re-apply if they continue to meet eligibility criteria

AWARD DETAILS:

  • Application Deadline: 11:59 pm Pacific Time, April 21, 2025

  • Award Notification: April 25, 2025

  • Award Presentation: 2025 GI Symposium (May 17-18, 2025 at the Hyatt Regency, Monterey, CA

  • Awardee Package:

    • $1,000 monetary award for clinical, educational, and/or research activities, including conference attendance.

    • Complimentary registration for both the 2025 GI Symposium and 2026 Liver Symposium.

    • Two-night complimentary hotel stay for the 2025 GI Symposium

    • One-year complimentary NCSCG membership after the completion of fellowship

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Applications will be evaluated on the candidate’s potential for a leadership career in gastroenterology and/or hepatology, including their background and demonstration of:

    • Established interpersonal skills and professionalism

    • Leadership ability/activities and service to institutions/professional societies

    • Motivation, self-direction, and personal integrity

    • Scholarly activities including medical education and research productivity
